Getting Started

In order to participate in your course on Grader Than, you will first need to create a Grader Than account. With a Grader Than account, you will be able to access your course content, such as your programming assignments, and the course's Grader Than Workspace. A Grader Than Workspace is a virtual desktop in the cloud with a browser IDE. You may access the Grader Than Workspace from your web browser. You will use the Grader Than Workspace to complete your computer related tasks for class.

Create an Account

1) Go to the create account page to start creating a Grader Than student account.

2) Please type in all required information. When typing in your info, make sure you do the following:

• Set your role as a “Student.”

• Be sure you use your College .edu email address in the School Email field.

• Recommendation: set your username as the first part of your email. If your email is student123@college.edu then make your Grader Than username student123.

3) Click the “Create Account” button at the bottom of the page.

4) Open the email inbox of the email you used to create your Grader Than account, then look for an email verification email from do_not_reply@graderthan.com. Click the button labeled “Verify Email,” this will take you back to your Grader Than account page.

Check your junk mail for the verification email

If you do not receive your verification email, check your Spam/Junk Email Inbox.

Enroll in a Course

If this is your first time using Grader Than, you must create an account before you can enroll in a course. Your school may have already created a Grader Than account for you so be sure to ask your instructor for more details.

1) Go to the enrollment page to enroll in a course. If your instructor shared a course sign up link with you, navigate to the link in your browser and skip to step 3.

This is the enrollment page where you may search for your course.

You may need to sign into your account

If you see a blue button labeled “Sign In” in the middle of the enrollment page, sign in to your account, then navigate back to the enrollment page.

1) On the enrollment page, type the name of the course or your instructor's name in the search field, then the course you are looking for should be displayed in the list below the search field.

2) In the list under the search field, locate the course you'd like to enroll in. Then click the blue Enroll button.

You are now enrolled in the course and ready to work with Grader Than!

Access Your Grader Than Workspace

Now, we will discuss how to open your Grader Than Workspace. A Grader Than Workspace is your personal cloud based desktop.

If this is your first time using Grader Than you must create an account and enroll in a course before you can access a Grader Than Workspace.

1) Open the Courses page by clicking the Courses button in the activity bar, on the left side of the screen.

2) Now that the course page is open, open the course by clicking the Open button to the right of the course title.

3) Now that the course page is open, in the upper right corner of the Course page you may select how you'd like to access your Grader Than Workspace.

This buttons located in the upper left corner of the Course page open the Grader Than Workspace IDE or Desktop.

• IDE - This opens the Grader Than IDE, this is a complete browser IDE built off of VS Code. You will most likely be working in the Grader Than IDE.

• Desktop - This opens the desktop view of the Grader Than Workspace. From here, you will be able to work with the workspace, much like your local computer.

Once you've selected an option, you may need to wait 30-40 seconds for the workspace to start up and then you are ready to go! Learn more about Grader Than Workspace.
